Company Accounts

We won’t simply produce accounts to fulfil your legal responsibility but we will make sure you understand what they mean and advise you accordingly.  Each set of accounts are always discussed in detail so you know what they actually mean for you and your business.

Working for your company's future

Here at Eve Accountants, we understand how challenging it can be to manage a business, maintain a profit and meet deadlines. That’s why we have developed an accountancy solution to remove the burden of company accounts.

What are company accounts?

Limited companies (registered with Companies House) are required to file three main pieces of paperwork during the financial year:

  • Balance sheet – a financial statement that will give you an insight into your business’s assets, liabilities and shareholder’s equity – indicating the financial health of your company.
  • Profit and loss statement – provides a more detailed overview of the performance of your business, outlining the total revenue and expenses throughout the past 12 months.
  • Cash flow statement – explains cash movements in and out of the business over the preceding year. This includes the money that comes from goods and services, the cost of manufacturing, the amount spent on capital expenditure (e.g. new equipment) and cash raised from selling stock.

All limited companies have various legal responsibilities when it comes to company accounts and there are fines and penalties for getting things wrong – often simple avoidable things such as late filing.

Company Accounts FAQ’s

Managing your accounts, and filing them with HMRC and Companies House every year, is part and parcel of running your own limited company. If you’ve never dealt with company accounts and financial statements before, it can be a daunting prospect – especially as failure to do so will result in heavy fines and, worst-case scenario, you could face legal action. The good news is, our accountants here at EVE are equipped with the latest accounting software and are always on hand to assist. So, if managing your company accounts is proving difficult, be sure to get in touch today.
While most businesses choose to update their accounts on a weekly or monthly basis, there is no definitive answer – and it typically depends on how much time you have and the type, value, and frequency of transactions. For example, if you’re busy running your business and taking payments all day, it won’t be practical to input these as you go along. Instead, you could record the sum for each day and input this information into your accounting system at the end of the week. Alternatively, if you sell high-end products on a less frequent basis, your customers will require an invoice at the point of sale, meaning you will need to log the transaction as and when it occurs.
